Billboard Music Awards
The Billboard Music Awards is one of four major United States contemporary music awards shows presented each year, the others being the American Music Awards, the Grammy Awards and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The Billboard Music Awards have been held annually since 1990, and like the American Music Awards, this awards show honors winners based on popularityin this case, based on Billboard’s year-end music charts, which are based on Nielsen data for sales, downloads and airplay. Awards are given for the top album, top artist and top single in every music genre. Since 1992, the awards also held out a Billboard Century Award which pays tribute to some of the classic artists in each decade.
