Customer Rating: Summary: Contrary to "Green Day Fan's" opinion, the album artwork is like a delicious Marushka Comment: Beginning with "Printemps" and ending with "Automne," Canada's This Cursed House carries listeners through a sepia-tinged summer. Immediately engaging songs like "Hexenhaus" and "Asleep In Leaves" announce quieter but equally insistent numbers like "Look To The Trees" and "As Dry As Bone."
Concluding with the slow-building "Cold Mouse Winter," which ends the album proper with a hand-clapping singalong chorus, Canada's follow-up to the teasing How Dare You EP continues to show a band already in a mirthful state of maturity and poised for greater things to come.
There is a certain Elephant 6 element to the palette of cellos, melodica, typewriters and glockenspiel scattered throughout This Cursed House. Fans of The Never, Saturday Looks Good To Me, and even The Arcade Fire and Joanna Newsome should find something to like here.
Canada, a band of multi-instrumentalists and visual artists from mid-Michigan, is currently esconced in studios recording their second full-length and songwriting alongside similarly wonderful band Page France.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD! You have to hear this! Comment: The music is soothing, calm and overall amazing. The songs coincide with one another, making you wonder where one song begins and where it ends.
BUT, if you want to put these songs on your iPod, or computer or whatever, buy it from an online music store such as iTunes. The CD is copy-protected and cannot be imported onto your computer using iTunes or Windows Media Player. The CD and case aren't anything special anyways. Trust me.
